I Don’t Write My Songs – Shallipopi
Nigerian fast-rising street-pop artist Crown Uzama, popularly known as Shallipopi, has revealed that he doesn’t write any of his songs; instead, they are all freestyles.
Shallipopi, who gained fame with the street-hop hit “Elon Musk,” calls his method of creating music “freestyling” in an interview with Cool FM Lagos.
He discloses that all of his songs, including those on his EP, Planet Pluto, which was released on July 10, 2023, are freestyles. He adds that he merely spent two hours creating the EP.
When the OAP asks as to whether he finds songwriting difficult, he responds that he freestyles on purpose to ensure that the music sounds unpolished and not “too professional.”
‘If I write it, it will be too professional and too strict’, he said. ‘It is supposed to be vibes and cruise’.
