Seun Kuti defends Femi Falana amid Bobrisky scandal, expresses doubts about Falz’s involvement
Nigerian musician Seun Kuti has come to the defense of prominent human rights lawyer Femi Falana, dismissing allegations made against him in a leaked phone call involving crossdresser Bobrisky.
The audio, leaked by online critic Vincent Martins Otse (also known as VeryDarkMan) with Seun Kuti’s approval, alleged that Falana and his son, rapper Falz, demanded N10 million from Bobrisky in exchange for securing a presidential pardon following Bobrisky’s arrest.
Initially supporting the sharing of the leaked call, Seun Kuti took to Instagram to clarify his stance. He firmly stated, “I know Uncle Femi very well… That part about Femi Falana is a scam,” suggesting that the allegations against the lawyer were false.
Kuti also shared personal experiences with Femi Falana, revealing that the lawyer had represented him pro bono in three separate cases involving Nigerian law enforcement. “Uncle Femi Falana is so effing rich… If he believes someone is wrongfully convicted, he’ll get them pardoned without asking for anything,” Kuti explained, further reinforcing Falana’s integrity.
However, Kuti expressed some uncertainty regarding Falz’s involvement, speculating, “Maybe Falz fit talk to Bobrisky, take him papa dey brag… That’s the only way, it doesn’t reach Uncle Femi’s side.”
The scandal has sparked widespread controversy, with many questioning the validity of Bobrisky’s claims. Kuti’s defense of Femi Falana has added another layer to the unfolding drama.
