Seun Kuti, the youngest son of Fela Kuti, the legendary Afrobeat pioneer, has warned parents against pressuring their children to follow in their footsteps.
In defending his position, Seun Kuti stated that parents and adults, in general, should embrace the form of their children who are still extremely pure in heart.
More crucially, the current bandleader of Egypt 80 believed that children are the “true saints,” emphasizing the need to stop attempting to mould them into conforming to their parents or other ‘broken’ adults.
He shared a photo with his daughter and captioned it:
“We must stop betraying the true saints, the pure of heart, our children! Be more like them and don’t make them like you, you are damaged! #getthesax.”
