Ryan Gravenberch discusses which Liverpool teammate has shocked him the most.
When asked which Liverpool player has surprised him the most so far this season, Ryan Gravenberch saved particular appreciation for a fellow recent acquisition.
The four midfielders brought to Anfield during the summer transfer window included the international from the Netherlands, whose £34.2 million deal to Merseyside was finalized on the deadline day.
Although he has started four times for Liverpool in the Premier League from the bench, Gravenberch has yet to make a league start.
He scored a goal against Union Saint-Gilloise and had an assist against LASK in his first two Europa League starts. In 65 minutes of involvement against Leicester City at home in the Carabao Cup, he recorded an assist.
While Dominik Szoboszlai, Gravenberch’s new teammate at Liverpool, is still settling in, he is already proving to be a well-liked character there.
As part of a Reddit AMA with Sky Sports, Gravenberch was asked which teammate has surprised him in training or in matches.
“I think it was Dom Szoboszlai,” Gravenberch replied. “Because this guy’s shot is…I think you saw it yesterday, it’s crazy!
“Also sometimes in training, sometimes we shoot after training and it’s like ‘one, two, three’, they go all in. Crazy things. So I think it’s Dom with his shot.”
Szoboszlai, who transferred to Liverpool from RB Leipzig for £60 million at the beginning of July, has scored twice for the Reds in 11 appearances so far this year, both of which were long-range shots. Since moving from the Bundesliga to the Premier League, the Hungary international has received accolades for his aggressiveness and accurate ball-striking.
Gravenberch was also asked who he thought the funniest member of the Liverpool squad was, pointing to Andy Robertson, who commented, ‘finally, a good Dutch player’ upon the midfielder’s arrival from Bayern Munich.
“I think I’ll go for Robbo…’a good Dutch player’! He makes a lot of jokes,” Gravenberch added.
