Nigerian Afropop star Ruger has opened another chapter of his career with the release of his new five-track EP, RU (Raw & Unfiltered), a project that leans fully into the personality, confidence, and unapologetic energy that have become central to his sound.
The Blown Boy Entertainment frontman uses the short project to strip away any unnecessary layers and deliver a more direct version of himself. Across the five tracks, Ruger explores his familiar dancehall-inspired Afropop sound while allowing his songwriting and vocal personality to take greater control.
Sonically, RU (Raw & Unfiltered) is built around dark dancehall grooves, weighty basslines, and sharp percussion.
