Rodri wins UEFA Champions League player of the season award.
The 2022–23 UEFA Champions League player of the year is Manchester City midfielder Rodri.
Rodri scored a beautifully hit side-footed strike past Andre Onana in the 68th minute of the game to give Man City the victory in the closely contested final on Saturday against a determined Inter team.
The 26-year-old midfielder has been named the 2022–23 Champions League’s standout performer by UEFA’s Technical Observer panel as a result of his game-winning contribution in the final and his overall excellent play for Man City in Europe.

Rodri was one of seven Manchester City players to be included in UEFA’s Team of the Year in addition to winning the Player of the Season title. Teammates Kyle Walker, Ruben Dias, John Stones, Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, and Erling Haaland are all on the Spanish player’s roster.
After recently winning the Premier League and FA Cup – defeating archrivals Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium – City accomplished an unprecedented trifecta by winning the Champions League on Saturday in Istanbul.
Alessandro Bastoni, Federico Dimarco, Thibaut Courtois, and Vinicius Junior were the only non-Man City players named to UEFA’s Champions League team for the season.
UEFA also announced that Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia had earned the Champions League young player of the season award, after scoring two goals and assisting four during his first season in Europe’s top league.
