Rio Ferdinand criticizes Arsenal for recognizing Partey as their best player in their most recent victory.
Rio Ferdinand, a former defender for Manchester United, criticized Arsenal for giving Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey the man of the match award following their 3-1 victory over Tottenham on Saturday.
The Old Trafford legend argued that William Saliba, a French defender who is 21 years old, should have received the prize instead of Partey, who received it from the Arsenal fans.
Arsenal defeated their north London rivals, Tottenham on Saturday as they ran out 3-1 winners over Antonio Conte’s side at the Emirates Stadium.

Partey was one of the Arsenal players who scored against Spurs, and the club’s fans named him the “man of the match,” but Ferdinand believes the honour was not meant for him.
After the game, Saliba received praise from both supporters and commentators, particularly for his ability to stop England and Tottenham captain, Harry Kane.
“How’s he even getting a shout out? He wasn’t their best player,” Ferdinand said on Vibe.
“He might not play three out of the next five [games]. Saliba was their best player.
“If they lose Jesus it’s curtains for them.”
