Richarlison comments on ‘dream’ move to Real Madrid.
Tottenham Hotspur and Brazil forward Richarlison has revealed that he dreams of signing for Real Madrid in the future.
Richarlison signed with Tottenham during the 2022 summer transfer window for a cost that could top £60 million, although his first season with the Lilywhites saw him mainly fall short of expectations.
The Brazilian scored just one goal for the team in 27 Premier League games during the 2022–23 season, but he did score two more during their UEFA Champions League run.
Richarlison has been linked with a move to Real Madrid despite his lacklustre performance last season, in part because of his friendship with manager Carlo Ancelotti (the two previously worked together at Everton).
During a press conference while on international duty, Richarlison was asked about these links, replying: “Real Madrid is the biggest club in the world and every player wants to wear their shirt.
“But I have a club, a contract – I have to prove why Tottenham bought me for a high price. But any player dreams of playing for Real Madrid.”
Richarlison hasn’t displayed much form at the club level, but during the past year, he has excelled for Brazil.
The 26-year-old managed to score 10 goals in 10 games while serving as the Selecao’s starting striker in 2022, including three goals during the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Under the new Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou, the striker will be trying to rediscover his club-level ability to score goals on a consistent basis.
The Australian joins the team after two incredibly successful seasons at Celtic, where he developed a reputation for an all-action aggressive style of play that might work well for Richarlison.
