Controversial street-pop singer Portable has once again sparked conversation online after sharing contrasting experiences he claims to have had with music stars Olamide and Davido during the early days of his career.

In a viral clip making the rounds on social media, Portable spoke candidly about the impact both artists had on his journey, drawing a sharp line between what he described as opportunity and advice.
Reflecting on his breakthrough moment, the singer credited Olamide with playing a decisive role in changing his life, particularly through their collaboration on his hit track “Zazoo Zehh,” which propelled him into the spotlight.
Portable said: “The very first day I met Olamide, he gave me a verse. He didn’t buy me food, he gave me my future.”
However, his comments took a different turn when addressing his encounter with Davido. According to Portable, their interaction did not translate into the kind of support he was hoping for at the time.
He said: “You took me to a restaurant to eat and that’s where you started giving me bad advice. If you wanted to help, you’d have helped.”
The remarks have since generated mixed reactions online, with fans debating Portable’s perspective while revisiting the roles both Olamide and Davido have played in supporting emerging talents within the Nigerian music industry.
As with many of his public statements, Portable’s comments have added another layer to ongoing conversations about mentorship, opportunity, and what true support looks like for rising artists navigating the industry.
“Davido never helped me, he only gave me lot of bad advice and bought food for me the first time we met in a restaurant. Second time we met in a club, he bought alcohol for me but never gave me a verse”
