“Stop the Lies!” — Phyno blasts viral fake news about selling Lagos property deal

Nigerian rap heavyweight Chibuzor Nelson Azubuike, professionally known as Phyno, has fiercely clapped back at a viral piece of fake news claiming he sold a multi-billion-naira property in Lagos to a Libyan billionaire.
The misleading tweet alleged that the “Ezege” rapper regretted the fictional ₦10 billion sale, supposedly lamenting that he should’ve invested in his hometown, Enugu.
It further attempted to stir political tension by attributing false quotes to Phyno regarding the treatment of the Igbo community in Lagos, particularly after the last general elections.
Phyno, visibly angered by the fabrication, took to his social media platforms to address the situation head-on. He slammed the individual behind the post, calling it a deliberate lie designed to spark unnecessary controversy.
In his fiery response, he used the Igbo phrase “Anwu nta”—a biting insult that loosely translates to “tiny mosquito” or “worthless insect”—to mock the poster, a line that quickly trended among fans.
“You are a fool for cooking up this type of lie! Where are you heading with this? Anwu nta,” Phyno wrote.

The backlash was swift. Shortly after the rapper’s response, the original tweet was deleted by the poster. Phyno’s strong stance against disinformation has earned praise from fans and fellow artists alike, who applauded him for speaking out against the spread of false narratives.
