Nigerian producer and singer Pheelz has stepped into a new creative phase with the release of his ambitious 8-track EP “A Rii Set.”
This project pushes beyond familiar Afrobeats boundaries into a more experimental and performance-driven direction.
Released under the Rii Collective, the project reflects a dual identity the artist has been shaping over time: the energetic, fashion-forward performer on one side and the meticulous studio craftsman known for hit-making precision on the other.
Together, both sides merge into a single body of work that prioritises expression, live instrumentation, and emotional depth over conventional streaming formulas.
The EP unfolds like a carefully curated sonic journey, drawing from an unexpected mix of influences, including bebop jazz textures, hip-hop bounce, zouk rhythms, and 3-step house patterns.
Rather than sticking to a single sonic lane, A Rii Set moves freely across genres, presenting itself as a fluid listening experience built for both reflection and performance spaces.
Among its standout moments is the disco-inspired DIRTY DIANA RIDDIM, a playful and groove-heavy record inspired by Pheelz’s admiration for his guitar.
The energy shifts again on GONGO ASO, where he links up with Young Jonn for a vibrant, high-tempo collaboration that leans into pure celebratory rhythm. Meanwhile, OGA, featuring street voices Shoday and Oshamo, brings a grittier, crowd-driven edge that speaks directly to the streets.
Beyond the energetic records, the EP also leans into deeper emotional territory. The previously teased I’M OK, featuring vocal powerhouse Tiwa Savage, stands out as a reflective moment centred on resilience, healing, and inner strength.
On the closing track RIDE OR DIE, South African singer Ami Faku delivers a soulful performance that wraps the project in a soft, melancholic tone.
Overall, A Rii Set positions Pheelz in a more expansive creative space, one where genre boundaries fade, and personal expression takes full control.
