Pep Guardiola concedes Man City reign is missing one key thing.
Pep Guardiola acknowledges that unless Manchester City wins the Champions League, his tenure as manager of the team “won’t be complete.”
Since joining City in 2016, the Spaniard has won nine trophies, including four Premier League titles.
The closest he has got to win the Champions League with City was in 2021 when his team fell to Premier League rivals Chelsea in the final. However, he has been unable to add to the two Champions League victories he enjoyed with Barcelona in 2009 and 2011.
This season’s competition has advanced City to the round of 16, where they will play RB Leipzig of the Bundesliga. City is once again seen as the favourite to win it all.

Despite all of the success he has seen at the Etihad, Guardiola, who just extended his contract at City until 2025, acknowledges that his vision won’t be complete until he wins the Champions League once more.
“It’s not the only one but I admit it’s the trophy we want and my period here will not be complete if we don’t win it,” the 51-year-old said.
“I will do everything in the time we have together but I’d say the same before. It’s the trophy we don’t have and we’ll try to do it. I have the feeling they’ll get it sooner or later.”
After the World Cup break, City will play a tough Carabao Cup match against Liverpool on Thursday before starting their Premier League schedule with a home game against Leeds United on December 28.
