Pedro Porro discloses lengths he went to in order to seal Tottenham’s move.
Pedro Porro has stated that he skipped Monday’s Sporting CP training because he was keen to seal a last-minute transfer to Tottenham Hotspur.
Recall, in December that Spurs had made contact with Sporting over a potential January transfer for Porro, but were told they would need to pay his €45m release clause upfront.
Tottenham has finally agreed to pay €48m in various instalments after a protracted month of negotiations.
As conversations continued into this week, Porro, who was previously scheduled to have a medical in London on Monday, was forced to postpone his trip.

He was granted permission to miss Sporting training, and speaking to reporters at Lisbon airport late on Monday night, reaffirmed his love for the club despite the imminent move.
“I’m grateful to Sporting, I love the club,” Porro said.
“I didn’t train as I was only focused on the transfer to Spurs but I will always be thankful to the club.”
Porro arrived at Spurs’ Hotspur Way training ground overnight and will undergo a medical on deadline day. He will become Tottenham’s second senior January signing following the loan arrival of Arnaut Danjuma from Villarreal.
