Paul O Defends Davido Amid Backlash Over Comments on Nigeria’s Economy

Prominent Nigerian music executive Paul O, known for his relationship with actress Iyabo Ojo, has spoken out in defense of Afrobeats superstar Davido following criticism of his recent remarks on the state of Nigeria’s economy.

Davido, during an appearance on ‘The Big Homies House‘ podcast, had advised Black Americans considering relocating to Nigeria to reconsider due to the nation’s economic struggles.

Addressing the challenges, he candidly remarked: “It is not cool back home. The economy is in shambles.”

The statement, which came amidst discussions about some Black Americans contemplating leaving the United States following Donald Trump’s re-election, sparked mixed reactions. While some applauded Davido’s honesty, others criticized his assessment of Nigeria’s current situation.

Taking to Instagram, Paul O responded to the backlash, commending Davido for his courage in speaking the truth. In his post, he highlighted the dire economic conditions affecting both global and local businesses in the country.

    He wrote:
“Please make una leave Davido alone mad people. Davido spoke the truth. Nigeria’s current economic state is so bad. With global companies leaving and local businesses facing significant losses, it’s clear we’re facing challenges. Let’s acknowledge the reality and work towards a better future. God bless Nigeria = Paulo.”

Paul O’s statement has added weight to the conversation, with many Nigerians resonating with his sentiments about the economic difficulties plaguing the nation. His support for Davido underscores the need for an open dialogue about finding solutions to the country’s pressing issues.
