    23-year-old Afro-fusion Nigerian singer Omah Lay took Nigerians by surprise following the ground-breaking song “Bad Influence” which catapulted him to fame.

    Before the year 2020, the Port Harcourt youngster was trying to make headway in life, not knowing what the future.

    He started out as a music producer and released a couple of songs for himself in 2019. Such as;

    • Hello Brother
    • Do not disturb.

    With the rate of new artistes budding the music industry, not all has been able to make a first good impression.

    Omah Lay was able to send a message that he has what it takes to be in the Hall of Fame.

    Apple’s New Music Artiste of the Month (June):

    Following the release of his EP ‘Get Layed‘ on May 22nd, which included Bad Influence and You, the EP became an instant success.

    It joined Burnaboy’s African Giant and Fireboy’s LTG  on the most-streamed Afrobeat albums on digital stores, like Apple Music and Audiomack.

    Taking to the month of June, the singer was announced as Apple Music’s first African Rising Artiste.

    The initiative by Apple is aimed at elevating the careers of fast-rising artistes in Africa.

    On the 3rd of July, he was picked as the debut star for Apple’s Africa Rising Campaign which spots talent in Africa and projects them all through the continent and internationally.

     African Muzik Magazines Awards (AFRIMMA) Nomination 2020:

    Omah lay alongside Rema and other notable Nigerian artistes were part of the nominees for the AFRIMMA 2020.

    Omah Lay, was nominated for ‘Best Newcomer’ alongside Nigerian singer Oxlade.

    Headies awards nomination 2020:

    The fast rising ‘You’ crooner has sure built a legacy in this short period of fame.

    Omah Lay is one of the artistes to be nominated in various categories of the Headies 2020.

    No. 1 on 7 Top music streaming platforms:

    According to TurnTable Charts’ end of  the year charts in December, Omah Lay’s songs ranked number 1 on 7 top music streaming platforms.

    Amplified International Artiste of the Month BET: 

    So far, the singer has been outstanding and consistent in delivering brilliant music contents over the months.

    However, this has gotten him international recognitions and he was recently honoured by BET.

    As at early November, Black Entertainment Television (BET), celebrated Omah Lay As the Amplified International Artiste of the month.
