Olamide Reveals How Wizkid’s Surprise Verse Landed on “Billionaires Club”
Nigerian rap heavyweight Olamide has opened up about the unexpected twist that brought Wizkid onto Billionaires Club, one of the standout tracks from his latest album, Olamidé.
In a sit-down with media personality Adesope Shopsydoo, the YBNL boss explained that the Starboy was only meant to feature on Kai! — until a spur-of-the-moment decision changed the plan.
“We didn’t plan it that way,” Olamide admitted. “It was just supposed to be Kai!. While we were on set for the video, I played him a few songs from the album. He liked Billionaires Club and said he wanted to jump on it.”
That off-the-cuff choice gave fans a second Olamide-Wizkid linkup on the project, this time alongside British-Nigerian artist Darkoo. Since its release, the record has soared in popularity, with its music video racking up millions of streams and becoming a fan favorite.
The story adds another chapter to the long-running chemistry between Olamide and Wizkid, who first collaborated in 2011 on the street anthem Omo To Shan.
Dropped on June 19, 2025, Olamide’s Olamidé album has earned praise for its bold mix of sounds and lyrical richness. Yet, the unplanned Wizkid appearance continues to be one of the album’s most talked-about highlights.
