Odumodublvck recalls how Davido and Wizkid assisted in his rise

In a recent interview on the ‘Afrobeats Podcast,’ Odumodublvck opened up about the crucial contributions of Afrobeats megastars Davido and Wizkid in his rise to stardom.
The rapper shared that in the early days of his mainstream career, Wizkid was the first major artist to support his music. “In Nigeria, Wizkid was the first major artist to post my music. He posted ‘Picanto’… Then after I dropped ‘Declan Rice,’ he posted the song, and there’s also a video of him vibing to it.”
Wizkid’s support brought massive attention to Odumodublvck’s music, and ‘Declan Rice,‘ named after England and Arsenal football star Declan Rice, quickly became a hit, propelling the rapper from relative obscurity to stardom.
On Davido’s role in his career, Odumodublvck expressed deep gratitude, stating that the five-time Grammy nominee helped him when he didn’t have to. “David (Davido) is someone who helped me when he didn’t need to. So there’s no way I will say anything bad about him, even if I had the chance.”
The rapper also addressed rumors that he was disappointed not to be featured on Wizkid’s last album, ‘Morayo.’ Odumodublvck clarified that it would be ridiculous to be upset about not making another artist’s album, especially a star like Wizkid, who had already contributed significantly to his success.
Since breaking into the mainstream in 2023, Odumodublvck has risen to the top of the Nigerian music industry, establishing himself as one of the most prolific hitmakers.
His album ‘EZIOKWU‘ enjoyed massive commercial success, making it one of the most successful Nigerian hip-hop albums of the digital era.
Looking ahead, Odumodublvck is set to release his new album Industry Machine in 2025.
