Nigeria’s influence on Africa’s music scene continues to grow, with homegrown artists claiming four of the five spots on Spotify’s list of the continent’s most-streamed R&B songs of 2025.

The latest streaming rankings reinforce the country’s commanding presence in African music, as Nigerian acts once again led the conversation across the genre.
Only one song outside the Nigerian music ecosystem managed to break into the top five, highlighting the widespread appeal of Afro-R&B created by Nigerian artists.
Leading the chart is “VENUS“ by Faceless and SERØTONIN, which finished the year as Africa’s most-streamed R&B song on Spotify. Close behind is Rema’s “Baby (Is It a Crime),“ a record that has maintained impressive momentum since its release earlier in the year.
Fast-rising singer Kunmie secured the third spot with “Arike,” while Fola and Kizz Daniel teamed up for “Lost,” which landed fourth on the list. Completing the top five is the collaboration between Ayra Starr and Wizkid, “Gimme Dat.“
With Nigerian artists occupying 80 percent of the rankings, the list reflects the country’s continued dominance of the continent’s streaming landscape and the growing international appetite for Afro-R&B.
The achievement also underscores the consistency of Nigerian musicians in producing records that resonate with audiences across Africa and beyond.
