Popular Nigerian singer and skitmaker Nasboi has sparked online outrage after revealing a disturbing encounter with a Nigerian police officer who allegedly asked him to transfer money to a SportyBet account.

Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) page, the Umbrella hitmaker recounted being stopped by officers who demanded money. When Nasboi said he had no cash, one of the officers requested a mobile transfer—to his betting account.
“The hell is wrong with Nigeria police? What? I no get cash to give you, you say make I transfer to your sporty,” Nasboi wrote in disbelief.
The post has since gone viral, drawing widespread criticism of police misconduct. Many Nigerians have responded by sharing similar experiences with extortion and abuse by law enforcement.
This troubling episode adds to the ongoing conversation around police reform in Nigeria, as citizens continue to demand accountability and systemic change following years of reported harassment, corruption, and unprofessional conduct.

In other news, Nasboi, who kick-started the ambitious campaign eight days ago, had already visited eight Nigerian states, publicly holding up placards appealing to Davido for a verse, when the accident occurred. Fortunately, no lives were lost.
In an official statement released from Abuja on June 4, 2025, the entertainer recounted the ordeal, calling it “terrifying” but reaffirmed his determination to continue the journey.
“Yes, the accident happened and yes, it was terrifying. But I am alive, and for that, I am grateful,” Nasboi wrote. “This journey is now bigger than a verse from Davido. It has become about proving to myself and others that no matter the setbacks, I’ll keep moving forward.”
