Tension between Afrobeat torchbearer Seun Kuti and Afrobeats superstar Wizkid shows no sign of cooling off months after their public fallout.

Speaking during a recent appearance on the Selah Meditate Podcast, Seun Kuti made it clear that reconciliation is off the table following what he described as disrespect toward his late father, Fela Kuti.
“It’s on for life. You don’t say things about my dad, then it’s fine. There’s no coming back from that,” Kuti says on the Selah Meditate Podcast.
The Grammy-nominated artist explained that, from his perspective, the situation has gone beyond a simple misunderstanding, insisting there is no common ground left to rebuild any form of relationship.
The clash traces back to January 2026, when tensions first erupted online. What began as a reaction to a fan’s comment quickly snowballed into a wider confrontation. A supporter of Wizkid had claimed that the singer’s achievements had eclipsed those of Fela Kuti — a statement that didn’t sit well with Seun.
In response, Seun Kuti took to Instagram Live, passionately calling out sections of the Wizkid FC fanbase. He accused them of repeatedly undermining his father’s legacy, a stance that drew both support and backlash across social media.
As the exchanges intensified, the situation escalated beyond a one-sided rant. Several fans fired back, defending Wizkid while also directing harsh criticisms at both Seun Kuti and the late Fela.
Now, months later, Seun’s latest comments suggest the disagreement has moved from a heated moment online to something far more permanent — a personal line he has no intention of crossing again.
