Oluwatosin Ajibade, popularly known as Mr Eazi, has claimed credit for coining the phrase “Detty December.”

Mr. Eazi made the remark in the first episode of the second season of the ‘How Far? with Mr Eazi and Temi Otedola‘ Podcast.

For those who are unfamiliar, Detty December is a month in Nigeria where you skip home training and party hard to compensate for the hard work you put in from January to November. It frequently includes concerts, trips, parties, and nightlife.

    In his Words:

If I do say so myself, I invented Detty December. In 2016, I had called my tour the Happy Boy Tour and it was like in December you detty yourself. And I have that song, Detty Yasef. And I was going to have a Concert in Lagos, we made billboard and they ran #Detty December. So like, have fun, get drunk, Detty yourself. But I think it’s grown from that to a mood in december…

Temi Otedola, his girlfriend, went on to say that it was more of an IJGB (I Just Got Back) term, but recommended him to trademark it, to which Mr. Eazi replied that he had already done so.

We’re almost certain that this gist isn’t over yet, but only time will tell. Listen to the complete episode below and let us know what you think in the comments.
