The 41-year-old achieved two victories and a draw while serving as the interim manager at Old Trafford, defeating Villarreal in the Champions League, Arsenal in the Premier League, and drawing with Chelsea.
The Athletic reports that Middlesbrough have held talks over the midfielder regarding their vacant managerial role, following the sacking of Chris Wilder.
Middlesbrough, which last competed in the Premier League in the 2016–17 campaign, has had a difficult start to the current campaign and is currently ranked 21 in the second division.
Carrick left Manchester United following Rangnick’s arrival, but he is now ‘weighing up’ a return to football.
