Lionel Messi has given fans another glimpse of his impending Argentina farewell after unveiling the special jersey he is expected to wear for his final appearance with the national team.
The 39-year-old superstar shared the commemorative shirt on social media ahead of Argentina’s farewell friendly against Benin at the Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires on October 6.
The jersey keeps Argentina’s familiar sky-blue and white design but includes several special touches to mark the occasion. Messi’s name and iconic No. 10 are displayed in gold on the back, while the Sun of May also features as part of the design.
Alongside the reveal, Messi shared a brief message that captured the significance of the moment:
“Último partido… Una camiseta para toda la vida.”
“One last match… A jersey for a lifetime.”

The upcoming fixture is set to bring an extraordinary international career to a close. Messi made his senior Argentina debut in 2005 and has since gone on to collect 207 caps and 125 international goals.
His international honours include the 2021 Copa América, the 2022 FIFA World Cup and the 2024 Copa América, ending Argentina’s long wait for major international success during his era.
Argentina are also scheduled to face Bolivia on September 30 and Burkina Faso on October 3, although Messi is not expected to feature in either fixture.
Instead, all attention will turn to the Monumental on October 6, when Messi is set to make his final appearance in the famous Argentina No. 10.
After more than two decades representing the country, the farewell will mark the closing chapter of one of the most decorated international careers in football history.
