Nigerian-American singer, songwriter, and producer Mannywellz has unveiled his latest project, a tightly packaged 7-track EP titled Small Chops, released via Vydia.
The project arrives as a deeply personal body of work, fully self-written and self-produced, and further strengthens his growing reputation as a boundary-crossing voice in modern R&B and soul.
Running for just under 15 minutes, Small Chops is short in length but rich in emotion. The EP moves through different phases of romance: infatuation, desire, reflection, and longing—using smooth vocal layering and warm production to create an immersive listening experience that unfolds quickly but leaves a lasting impression.
A key feature of the project is its complete creative control, with Mannywellz handling both the writing and production from start to finish. The result is a cohesive, intimate sound that feels intentional at every point, as he fuses soulful melodies with subtle African influences and contemporary R&B textures.
The EP also features guest appearances from Wale and Lekan, adding extra emotional weight and variation across the tracklist. Together, the collaborations help expand the narrative arc of the project while still keeping its core theme of love and emotional vulnerability at the centre.
Conceptually, Small Chops draws inspiration from the popular Nigerian appetizer platter of the same name. In that sense, the EP serves as a “starter” ahead of his forthcoming full-length album, offering listeners a taste of what is to come in his next artistic chapter. It also marks what is positioned as the final EP in this phase of his journey.
The release follows strong momentum around his recent visual for How It Feels featuring Wale, which has already crossed one million views within two weeks, as well as his 2025 single Holy Father, a record that helped shape the sonic direction of this new project.
Beyond music, Mannywellz’s story also carries a deeper personal layer. As a DACA recipient, he has openly reflected on his immigration journey after moving from Nigeria to the United States at the age of nine.
His experiences continue to influence both his artistry and advocacy work, including his contribution to the Grammy-winning project American Dreamers: Voices of Hope, Music of Freedom.
With Small Chops, Mannywellz delivers more than just an EP—it feels like a carefully plated introduction to a larger artistic meal, one that balances emotion, identity, and cross-cultural expression with quiet confidence.
