Man City get their man! Nico Gonzalez set to complete €60m deadline day move from Porto as Guardiola finally finds Rodri replacement

Manchester City have secured a replacement for Rodri, agreeing to a €60 million (£50m/$62m) deal for Porto midfielder Nico González.
Rodri, a Ballon d’Or nominee, has been a significant absence for City this season due to a knee ligament injury. While he is making good recovery and is expected to be included in City’s Champions League knockout squad, the club has moved swiftly to strengthen their midfield options.
Nico, a product of Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy, is set to complete a deadline-day switch to the Etihad Stadium. According to Fabrizio Romano, City have triggered the 22-year-old’s release clause at Porto, paving the way for him to undergo a medical and sign with the reigning Premier League champions.
The Spain U-21 international will be the latest high-profile addition to City’s squad during the winter transfer window, following the arrivals of Omar Marmoush, Vitor Reis, and Abdukodir Khusanov. This spending spree comes despite the club facing 115 Financial Fair Play (FFP) charges.
