    Nigerian Iconic rapper, M.I Abaga has dropped his 2 cents on Wizkid’s controversial declaration that rap is no longer relevant.

    In response to Wizkid’s claim that rap is boring and dead, M.I Abaga expressed his opinion on the state of hip hop or rap in Nigeria by stating that the genre did really well in 2022 and that it is still alive.

    According to him, despite the fact that most rappers aren’t popular as Afrobeat artists, this is the right time for them to focus on their craft and keep getting better.

    In his words;

    “The energy around HIPHOP right now feels right.. I know most rappers are still not the most popular yet.. but right now is time for us to focus on the craft.. just keep getting better.. this year we did so well as a genre and next year we grow!!!! ????????????????”

    Then he went on to mention Nigerian rappers like Falz, Blaqbonez, Vector, A-Q, Ladipoe and other as examples who according to him are winning despite all odds.

    When someone stated that M.I Abaga did not mention indigenous rappers like Olamide, Phyno and the rest, The Guy stated;

    “They are all winning as well.. thanks for the reminder! Erigga Baddo Reminisce Oladips and all the amazing MCs who won this year.. I was referring to all of us..

    I would point out to you that you used “the rest” just the same way I used etc.. why you no mention everyone?”
