Liverpool Receive Transfer Boost in Marc Guehi Pursuit as Crystal Palace Close In on Replacement

Liverpool’s chances of signing Marc Guehi have significantly improved following reports that Crystal Palace have reached an agreement to sign a potential replacement.
According to Portuguese outlet A Bola, Palace have struck a £47 million deal with Sporting CP for highly rated centre-back Ousmane Diomande, paving the way for Guehi’s exit this summer.
Guehi, who is currently with the England national team, has just one year left on his contract at Selhurst Park. With no signs of a renewal on the horizon, Palace are reportedly open to cashing in now rather than risk losing him for free in 2026.
The Eagles successfully rebuffed Newcastle’s approach last summer, but with their recent FA Cup triumph, the club may now view this transfer window as the ideal time to profit from the 23-year-old defender.
Liverpool, who are seeking to reinforce their defensive line ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League campaign, are eager to bring Guehi to Anfield before the season kicks off. The Reds begin their title bid with an opening fixture against Bournemouth on the Friday night of the first weekend.
Should the Diomande deal go through without complications, it would remove the final major hurdle in Guehi’s potential move to Merseyside—an outcome that would bolster new manager Arne Slot’s backline significantly.
