Kunmie makes history on Spotify global viral chart
Fast-rising Nigerian music star Kunmie is making waves globally as his hit single “Arike” debuts at No. 2 on the Spotify Global Viral Chart.
This milestone makes him the first emerging Nigerian artist to achieve such a feat, solidifying his status as one of 2025’s breakout stars.
Since its release on February 15, 2025, Arike has experienced massive success, thanks in part to its TikTok virality, where the song has been used in over 186,000 user-generated videos. It also debuted at No. 1 on the Spotify Nigeria Viral 50 chart, earning Kunmie his first chart-topping song.
With over 7 million streams on Spotify in under a month, Arike now joins the ranks of CKay’s “Love Nwantiti” and Rema’s “Calm Down” as one of the highest-charting Nigerian songs on the Spotify Global Viral Chart.
Kunmie recently released his debut EP, Before We Became Strangers, with Arike being one of its standout tracks. The success of the record underscores the growing influence of TikTok virality in the commercial breakthrough of Nigerian pop music.
