New Liverpool man Jeremie Frimpong reveals his favourite full-back of all time as Real Madrid, Man Utd & Chelsea legends are snubbed

Fresh Liverpool signing Jeremie Frimpong has named Brazil’s Cafu as his all-time favourite fullback, bypassing several celebrated defenders in the history of the game.
The Dutch international, who joined the Reds from Bayer Leverkusen in a £30 million ($40m) deal earlier this summer, revealed his admiration for the legendary right-back in a recent chat with GOAL.
Frimpong, who is expected to fill the boots of Trent Alexander-Arnold at Anfield, is already drawing comparisons—but it’s clear who inspires him most.
In a series of face-offs between football’s elite full-backs, Frimpong shortlisted Brazilian duo Cafu and Marcelo over Roberto Carlos and Ashley Cole. He also selected Paolo Maldini ahead of Philipp Lahm, leaving out other notable names like Inter Milan great Javier Zanetti and former Manchester United stalwart Gary Neville.
Ultimately, Cafu edged out his fellow Brazilian Marcelo because, in Frimpong’s words, “he’s a right-back.” He then gave Cafu the nod over AC Milan icon Maldini in the final round of his personal bracket.
While Frimpong enjoys some downtime before pre-season kicks into gear, he’ll soon report for duty under Liverpool’s new regime as the team prepares for a busy July schedule, including warm-up matches against Preston and Italian giants AC Milan—Cafu’s former club.
The 23-year-old will be looking to make a strong impression as Liverpool eyes another push for the Premier League title.
