Romelu Lukaku sends emotional message to Inter fans after dismal Champions League final display.
Romelu Lukaku acknowledged having a “sh*tty feeling” following Inter’s loss to Manchester City in the Champions League final.
After losing to City 1-0 in Istanbul, with Rodri scoring the game-winning goal in the 69th minute, Inter was unable to win a fourth European championship. However, if Lukaku’s mistakes in the last third hadn’t occurred, the outcome might have been different.
To the chagrin of Inter head coach Simeone Inzaghi, the 30-year-old blocked a goal-bound effort from his own teammate Federico Dimarco before seeing a point-blank header saved by Ederson in stoppage time.
Lukaku, who is set to return to Chelsea after his loan spell at San Siro expires, took to social media to reminisce on the final and the entire 2022-23 season.
The Belgian also appears to have indicated he plans to carry on with Inter, writing on Instagram: “First of all I want to thank all the Inter fans for their love and support throughout the season. You guys have been by our side at all times and I personally want to thank you for that. It shouldn’t have happened…We gave everything. It’s a sh*tty feeling for all of us who love this beautiful club. But Inter are still hungry and we’ll go back to fighting with the hope of one day reaching that moment where history is written.”

Inter are ready to prolong Lukaku’s loan for another season, according to L’Equipe. However, it has been believed that Chelsea would like to transfer the striker completely, and GOAL has confirmed that he has a contract offer from Saudi club Al-Hilal on the table.
Lukaku has been named to Belgium’s latest national team squad for their forthcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers against Austria and Estonia.
It seems expected that a decision on his future will be taken after the international break, with incoming Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino planning a lot of major changes following the club’s terrible 2022-23 season.
