Veteran Nigerian music producer ID Cabasa has voiced deep concern over the rising wave of insecurity and violence across the country, lamenting that many Nigerians now appear desensitized to tragic incidents that once sparked nationwide outrage.

In an emotional statement, the respected music executive said the frequent occurrence of killings and violent attacks has gradually made citizens numb, with many people adjusting to what he described as a “darkness” hanging over the nation.
Cabasa criticised the government for what he believes is an inadequate response to the worsening security situation, stressing that authorities have failed to take decisive action despite the growing fears among citizens.
He also expressed disappointment over the way Nigerians often become divided whenever painful national issues arise, noting that conversations surrounding tragedy are quickly turned into political, ethnic, religious, or tribal arguments instead of collective calls for justice.
Referencing the recent killing of a teacher, the producer said public outrage surrounding the incident faded too quickly, describing the silence and acceptance that followed as disturbing.
According to him, the country risks losing its humanity if people continue to normalize violence without demanding accountability.
“it’s so sad now that we have gotten used to evil. Nigerians have gotten used to the k’||!ng. We have adjusted to the darkness that has covered this country. The government of the day is not taking action and it’s so sad that even when we are supposed to speak up people pick political divides; we make it religious, we make it ethnical and we make it tribal. An innocent teacher was b3hEAded and the next thing we keep adjusting.”
