Tems says she’s eager to meet with Lil Wayne
In a recent interview on ‘The Cruz Show,’ Tems opened up about her love for rap music and shared how her fascination with hip-hop began thanks to her older brother.
She revealed that he was instrumental in shaping her taste in music, introducing her to rap and sparking a passion for the genre at a young age. Tems admitted to idolizing Lil Wayne so much that she would pretend to be him, listing hits like “Mrs. Officer,” “Mr. Carter,” “Comfortable,” and “Hustler Musik” among her favourites from the New Orleans rapper.
When asked if she has her own “rap voice,” the singer laughed, admitting that while she does, it feels “a little cringy.” Though she’s yet to meet Lil Wayne, Tems expressed her hope that a face-to-face meeting is on the horizon.
Tems‘ love for hip-hop shines through in her music. In her debut album, ‘Born In The Wild,‘ she created a rap track titled “T Unit” and teamed up with Grammy-winning rapper J. Cole on the song “Free Fall.”
She’s also collaborated with major names in the rap world, including Future on the Grammy-winning single “Wait For U” with Drake, who also featured her on “Fountains” from his album *Certified Lover Boy*.
