Nigerian music superstar Davido has announced a temporary pause from music as he throws his weight behind the re-election campaign of his uncle, Ademola Adeleke, ahead of the 2026 Osun governorship election.

The singer made the announcement on Tuesday in Ede during the inauguration of the Imole Youth Campaign Mobilization Team, where he was unveiled as the committee’s chairman.
Addressing supporters at the event, Davido explained that he would be stepping away from his music activities for about two months to focus fully on political mobilization efforts across the state.
“I have put my musical career on hold for two months to come and work for my uncle, not only because he is my uncle but because he is doing a good job and still has more to accomplish. The job is not done,” he said.
The Afrobeats star stressed that youth engagement would play a major role in the election, describing the mobilisation committee as one of the most important arms of the campaign structure.
“We are all here to support him to win the election with our influence. This is one of the most important committees because it focuses on youths,” he added.
Davido also charged members of the team to begin grassroots outreach across Osun’s local government areas, urging them to actively communicate the governor’s achievements and plans to residents.
“Let us carry out door-to-door mobilisation across all local governments, showcasing what the governor has achieved and what he intends to do. Engage people within your communities and communicate the governor’s programmes effectively,” he added.
The move further highlights Davido’s growing involvement in politics and governance conversations, especially within Osun State, where he has consistently shown strong public support for his uncle’s administration.
