The Recording Academy Announces 2024 Special Merit Award & Lifetime Achievement Award Honorees: N.W.A, Gladys Knight, Donna Summer, DJ Kool Herc & Many More
The honorees of this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award have been revealed by the Recording Academy, which oversees the Grammy Awards.
Laurie Anderson, a singer, The Clark Sisters, a hip-hop group, N.W.A., Donna Summer, R&B vocalist Gladys Knight, and R&B artist Laurie Anderson are among the awardees.
Additionally, the 2024 Trustees Award will be bestowed upon Peter Asher, DJ Kool Herc, and Joel Katz, while Tom Kobayashi and Tom Scott will receive the Technical GRAMMY Award. The Best Song for Social Change Award goes to “Refugee,” composed by Somalian singer K’naan, along with Steve McEwan and Gerald Eaton (a.k.a. Jarvis Church).
The Special Merit Awards ceremony is slated to take place at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles on February 3, 2024. Simultaneously, the main Grammy ceremony is scheduled for February 4, 2024, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
In a noteworthy presence, Nigerian music artists Davido, Burna Boy, Tems, Ayra Starr, Asake, and Olamide have garnered nominations across various categories at the 66th Grammy Awards, further emphasizing the global impact of Nigerian music on the international stage.
