Nigerian Twitter users are at it again, this time they have dragged Olamide and Late Dagrin into a battle of “who is the best Nigerian Yoruba Rapper?”

The argument started when a twitter user by the name “ChinoXL” posted a tribute to Dagrin on his status and it went downhill from there.
This right here is the blueprint for yoruba rap before it got messed up
RIP great one

Another twitter user “Yom”Β retweeted it with a caption saying he was waiting for Olamide fans to come for him.

Not everyone twitter agreed with ChinoXL on his opinion.

It is an insult to Seriki, Lord of Ajasa, Jazzman Olofin, Durella, to say Dagrin paved way for Olamide.
Dagrin didn't even live to achieve half of Olamide's achievements but sentiment FC will not see the light.

When dagrin was rapping, English rap was still the biggest, Olamide came, took the local rapper tag and bodied all the English rappers. Olamide made a lot of young rappers embrace Yoruba. Now Yoruba rappers are everywhere. If dagrin was alive, Olamide would still be the greatest

Dagrin didn't even live up to his legendary status. He's good, no doubt, but saying he should not be compared to Olamide is a trash talk. Olamide bodied every Nigerian rapper in Eyan Mayweather, none responded. NONE. Please do not disrespect the most consistent act. He's King.

Y'all discussing Olamide and Dagrin based on Yoruba rap and you're neglecting Ajasa who had been pulling the strings before them. Seriki followed suit, Dagrin fine-tuned it, Olamide added the needed finesse and he's still doing that.
My take.

While others agreed that Dagrin was the better of the two indigenous rappers.
Whichever way you want to look at it, Dagrin is a fucking legend. He took Yoruba rap to another level, he was a lyricist of no comparison, his album is one of the best rap album every in Nigeria. Take nothing away from Olamide's achievements, but don't disrespect Dagrin.

Why, because Olamide is mostly a commercial artist?? Go and listen to C.E.O album by Da Grin https://t.co/LO4xvd04QG

You can't just belittle my own very DAGRIN.
His style of rap, everything about his music can't be described with 150characters.
Listen to crazydemo and you'll stab yourself for rating him so low .
Olamide respects Dagrin even in the spirit world!!

Saying Dagrin is not a legend is trash talk.He didnt have to release 9 albums or diss any rapper to be a legend. He gave a voice for indigenous rap which is the platform people like olamide rode on. Olamide's first single was a tribute to dagrin. DAGRIN IS A LEGEND!!!!

Olamide practically looked up to DAGRIN before his death. If apprentice dey learn work, na to sabi pass him master. I find this juxtaposition insulting. https://t.co/l32fm1FRu4
