Falz has turned down the invitation of Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to take part in a peace walk in December.
In his press conference on the Endsars panel report on November 30th, Sanwo-Olu called on Folarin Falana (Falz), Debo Adebayo (Mr. Marcaroni), Dele Farotimi, Temitope Majekodunmi, Segun Awosanya (Segalinks), Adedotun (Just Detoun), Seun Kuti; Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, and Commander of Rapid Response Squad, RRS, CSP Yinka Egbeyemi and others to join him in the “historic march”.
Tuesday, Sanwo-Olu petitioned for peace and harmony, breaking his silence on the report of the Lagos judicial panel of inquiry into police brutality and the shooting of unarmed, peaceful demonstrators at the Lekki tollgate.
The army, police, and the Lagos State Government were all named in the panel’s report.
The panel also claimed that the October 20, 2020 incident at the Lekki tollgate constituted a massacre.
Sanwo-Olu had said:
“Dear Lagosians, this month of December, I will be leading a walk of peace to herald the healing of our land.
“Let me therefore use this occasion to extend an open invitation to all of our youths, members of the diplomatic corps, civil society groups, students, gentlemen of the press, media and other stakeholders to join me.
“I will want Folarin Falana (popularly called Falz), I will want Debo Adedayo (Mr. Macaroni), activist lawyer Dele Farotimi, Temitope Majekodunmi, Segun Awosanya, legendary son of Fela (Seun) Kuti, Lagos Commissioner of Police, Commander of the RRS, to join me on this historic march for our dear Lagos..”
Mr Marcaroni took to his Twitter account to reject the Governor’s Invitation. In his tweet, he wrote that ‘genuine peacemaking will begin by first implementing the recommendations of the panel’
Falz responded to Sanwo-Olu’s invitation by calling it a joke and saying it’s insulting to join him on a peace walk while justice hasn’t been served since the alleged massacre of protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate.

He wrote;
“This suggestion of a ‘walk of peace’ sounds like a joke and a very disrespectful one at that. People were murdered in cold blood and absolutely no iota of justice has been served more than a year after. How can there be peace without justice?
“In this same speech, you said ‘to be a smart city, we must first be a just one.’ Remember the young Nigerians that had their lives snatched away by weapons wielded by our own armed forces?
“You want to sweep that under the carpet? Is that how to establish a just city? #EndSARS.”
Young Nigerians, till today, are still being constantly harassed and extorted by police officers!! You were awfully quiet about that. Or are you not aware ? #ENDSARS”
The Lagos state government is all but set to release a white paper on the report.
