-
The rapper made this known in an interview with AudioMack.
Nigerian ace rapper, singer, and songwriter, Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, is certain that just because Afrobeats dominates the music industry, rap music is not extinct in Nigeria.
Falz admitted he worries about the future of Nigerian rap music since he adores the genre so much, but he also has faith that it will survive.
The wordsmith stipulated that the sub-genre of Afrobeats is temporarily distracting musicians. However, rap music will find its way back to the top. Falz noted it takes only a few rap songs to be released for music listeners to realise rap is still solid.

In a conversation with AudioMack, the rapper said:
“It makes me deeply concerned because it’s an art I very much love, and it’s an art that I will always love. But to be honest with you, I’m not even all that concerned because a certain part of me has a level of confidence that it can never really go anywhere. There might be downtimes, but there are some genres that are so strong in themselves, and they can never go anywhere.”
Falz opined that rap music would return soon.
“I think [it] takes a couple of tracks to be released under that genre to then become popular for people to go back and say, “Come, this genre dey oh.
It’s just because recently a lot of people have been distracted by other sub-genres of Afrobeats. I know that there’ll still be that sway. People will still sway back [to rap], and it’s probably even gonna happen very soon.”
