Erling Haaland has signed a groundbreaking new contract with Manchester City, extending his stay at the Etihad Stadium until the summer of 2034.

The prolific Norwegian striker, now in his third season with City, has already scored an astonishing 111 goals in 126 appearances across all competitions, including 79 goals in just 87 Premier League matches.
Haaland’s previous deal was set to expire in 2027, sparking speculation about potential moves to La Liga giants Real Madrid or Barcelona. Despite their financial challenges, both clubs were rumored to be keen on pairing him with or pitting him against stars like Kylian Mbappé, Jude Bellingham, Pedri, and Gavi.
However, Haaland has put all transfer rumors to rest by committing his long-term future to City. The new agreement, reportedly one of the most lucrative in sports history, removes all previous release clauses. By the time the contract concludes, Haaland will be nearly 34 years old.
According to Fabrizio Romano, a new release clause will activate in 2029, though its specifics remain unclear and are only described as involving “very high numbers.”

Haaland’s extended commitment is a significant boost for Manchester City, who are enduring a challenging season. The team is 12 points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool, despite having a game in hand, and has struggled with a poor run of form, winning only two of their last 14 matches across all competitions. City also sit 22nd in the revamped Champions League standings, needing wins in their final two group matches to advance.
Haaland has been a vital contributor this season, scoring five goals in six Champions League appearances and ranking second in the Premier League Golden Boot race behind Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.
The club is expected to announce the new deal officially soon as City navigates a busy transfer window. Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush is reportedly close to joining, along with defensive reinforcements Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis.
