Erik ten Hag reveals decision on Casemiro red card appeal.
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has given an update on whether the club would appeal Casemiro’s three-game suspension after receiving a red card.
In Saturday’s 2-1 home victory over Crystal Palace, the Brazilian was given his marching orders. Casemiro placed his teammates under strain when he was sent off for grabbing Will Hughes by the throat – an act picked up by VAR amid a scuffle between both sets of players.
Even though Palace got a goal back through Jeffrey Schlupp, United just about held on to secure the victory and the three points.
Ahead of Wednesday’s trip to rival Leeds, Ten Hag acknowledged that United would not be filing an appeal, despite his post-game lament that they were thinking about doing so.

When asked if United considered an appeal in the days after the red card, Ten Hag replied: “Consider, yeah. Still it’s for me not the right decision but I don’t think we have a chance in a legal process.
“I always have to play with the players who are available and we have a squad, we have many good players in our squad who are also not playing in the starting XI and I have to do it. After a game I can’t say Casemiro is not there.”
In spite of missing the doubleheader against Leeds this week and the visit from Leicester the following Sunday, Casemiro will still be able to play against Barcelona in the Europa League.
