Davido Announces White Wedding Plans with Chioma in Miami This …

Nigerian music icon Davido has officially shared the exciting news that he and his wife, Chioma, will be holding their white wedding this August in Miami.
In a candid interview on The Breakfast Club, Davido opened up about the cultural differences between Nigerian and American marriage traditions, particularly how family dynamics play a central role in African unions.
He reflected on how, in some Nigerian households, the bond between a man and his mother is so strong that even after marriage, it’s common for mothers to remain highly involved in their sons’ lives. He explained:
“Back home, the culture in some households is, for example, a lot of men grew up with their mum so she’s everything. Even if they get married, they can’t leave their mum; she must be in the house. So anything the husband does right or wrong, she’s supporting the husband.”
Davido, who had a lavish traditional wedding in Nigeria, shared how this upcoming white wedding would be a continuation of their love story, which has been under the public’s watchful eye for some time. He commented:
“That’s the mentality in Nigeria: the same thing is for women, they must always support their daughters. Meanwhile in America, it’s just the man and woman when they get married. In Nigeria, you never really leave that family. Have you seen a Nigerian wedding?”
Reflecting on his traditional wedding, which became a massive celebration that captured national attention, he teased the significance of the Miami white wedding, which is set for August 2025. He shared:
“I’m doing my white wedding in Miami in August. The wedding I did was traditional, it was like a carnival in Nigeria, like a holiday. The whole world stood still. Me and my wife’s relationship was in the public eye, especially after I did that one song. So a lot of things happened. Even apart from losing our child, I messed up a lot of times, so that full circle moment everyone was like finally she can get what she deserves.”
The 32-year-old Grammy nominee, born in Atlanta, also praised his wife’s ability to keep their private life out of the public eye. He expressed:
“My wife, you can never see her go to any interview or take a phone to say ‘oh, my husband did this’ or go live — like the normal things. And I appreciate her for that because she could.”
Acknowledging that no relationship is perfect, Davido humbly admitted that he wouldn’t be truthful if he said theirs was without challenges.
