Davido Issues Public Apology, Retracts Criticism of Osun State Commissioner of Police

Afrobeats superstar Davido has made a public apology and retracted his earlier criticism of Osun State Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Umar Abba.
Just a day after calling out the commissioner over the violent crisis in Osun State, Davido has now acknowledged the genuine efforts of security agencies in managing the situation.
In his initial outburst, Davido accused the commissioner of failing to uphold the rule of law during the recent wave of violence that resulted in multiple casualties. However, in a new statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Davido admitted that his initial reaction was driven by emotions due to the tragic loss of lives.
“In memory of the innocent lives lost, emotions ran high among me and my friends. We were unaware that the Commissioner of Police had been working sleepless nights alongside other commanders. At the time, I did not fully appreciate his contributions. This was a serious oversight, and I now wish to acknowledge and commend his dedication to upholding the rule of law and maintaining peace in Osun State.”
While retracting his earlier statements, Davido also urged security agencies, including the Osun State Commissioner of Police, to intensify efforts to prevent further unrest, especially with the local government elections coming up on Saturday, February 22, 2025.
“In honor of those who lost their lives or were injured, I urge the Commissioner of Police and other security agencies to strengthen their efforts in preserving peace. The rule of law must prevail.”
He further emphasized that ensuring a peaceful electoral process would be a crucial achievement for both politicians and security officials.
Davido concluded his statement by extending his best wishes to the commissioner and other security commanders in their ongoing efforts to tackle Osun State’s security challenges.
His apology and retraction have sparked discussions among fans and political observers, with some praising his maturity while others question whether his initial outburst was necessary.
With the Osun elections approaching, all eyes are now on how security agencies will handle the ongoing tensions in the state.
