Davido Hits Back at TVC Over Criticism of Economic Comments

Popular Nigerian artist Davido has fired back at TVC Television following remarks made by one of its presenters, Nyma Akashat Zibiri, regarding his views on the Nigerian economy.

Nyma, during a segment on TVC, critiqued Davido’s recent comments on the state of Nigeria’s economy made during a podcast appearance. Davido had described the economy as being in a dire state, advising Americans against investing in the country. Nyma argued that such remarks undermined President Bola Tinubu’s ongoing efforts to attract foreign investments.

In a bold reaction, Davido took to X (formerly Twitter) to address TVC, mocking the station and asserting that he and other notable figures serve as the true ambassadors of Nigeria. He went on to praise his demeanour during the podcast, describing his accent as “very demure.”

The singer’s public response has stirred divided opinions online. While a section of fans applauded him for speaking his mind, others criticized his comments as being dismissive of Nigeria’s challenges and counterproductive to national progress.

This exchange has further fueled discussions about the role of public figures in shaping Nigeria’s global image and their responsibility in addressing sensitive national issues.
