Nigerian music superstar Davido has publicly called out former Osun State governor and current minister of marine and blue economy, Gboyega Oyetola, accusing him of political desperation amid rising tension ahead of the state’s governorship election.

The singer took to social media on Tuesday with a series of strongly worded posts directed at the politician, making it clear he was unhappy with recent developments in Osun politics.
“The most desperate politician in the world is @GboyegaOyetola, very embarrass,” Davido wrote in one of the posts. He followed it up with another blunt message:
“OYETOLA UR PLAN NO GO WORK.”

The online outburst arrives at a heated moment in Osun State politics as parties intensify preparations for the August 15 governorship election. Political tension in the state has continued to grow following reports of attacks linked to campaign activities in Osogbo.
Recently, members of the Accord Party accused suspected thugs allegedly connected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) of attacking campaign offices belonging to Governor Ademola Adeleke and the party’s secretariat in the Osun State capital.
According to Maxwell Mgbuden, the national chairman of the Accord Party, the latest incident marked the second reported attack on the governor’s campaign office within two weeks. He alleged that armed men stormed the premises, fired shots sporadically, shattered windows, and damaged several offices, including that of Victor Akande, the party’s chairman in Osun State.
Mgbuden also claimed the attackers left behind inscriptions reading “Say no to automatic ticket” on the walls, an action the party believes was intended to intimidate opposition figures and heighten political instability in the state.
Davido’s involvement in Osun politics has become increasingly visible in recent months. Earlier this year, the singer officially aligned himself with the Accord Party and was later appointed head of youth mobilisation for the party’s campaign council. In April, he also launched the Imole Youth Mobilisation Campaign Council, further strengthening his political presence ahead of the election season.
