Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku is on the verge of completing a switch to AC Milan, with reports confirming he will fly to Italy tonight to undergo his medical and finalize the transfer.

Multiple outlets revealed on Wednesday morning that the two clubs have reached an agreement worth around €42m (£36–38m), with Milan sealing a permanent deal rather than a loan. Chelsea are also understood to have inserted a sell-on clause to benefit from any potential future transfer.
Fabrizio Romano noted that the guaranteed portion of the fee is above €35m, making it a respectable return for a player who never quite fulfilled expectations at Stamford Bridge, largely due to a serious knee injury that disrupted his momentum.
Nkunku did, however, play an important role in Chelsea’s UEFA Conference League triumph last season, scoring five goals and showcasing his trademark balloon celebration during the campaign.

Despite flashes of quality, the Frenchman struggled to establish himself in the Premier League following his move from RB Leipzig, where he had built a strong reputation as one of Europe’s most exciting forwards.
The sale also marks another significant piece of business in Chelsea’s hectic transfer window, which has already seen deals worth nearly half a billion pounds completed. Offloading Nkunku for £38m even temporarily puts the club in profit before potential moves for Xavi Simons (RB Leipzig, £60m) and Alejandro Garnacho (Manchester United, £50m).
For Nkunku, a fresh start in Serie A could provide the spark needed to revive his career and rediscover the form that once made him one of the most sought-after attackers in Europe.
