BlueCo, the consortium that owns both Chelsea and French club Strasbourg, has finalized an agreement to sign Julio Enciso from Brighton & Hove Albion.

The 21-year-old Paraguayan midfielder, currently sidelined with a knee injury, will initially link up with Strasbourg before eventually making the switch to Stamford Bridge. The deal is worth around £13.8 million, with Enciso already having agreed on personal terms.

Enciso’s arrival extends BlueCo’s recruitment trend from Brighton since taking charge of Chelsea in 2022. Should the move be completed, he will become the fifth player acquired from the Seagulls after Moisés Caicedo, Marc Cucurella, Robert Sánchez, and João Pedro. Unlike Enciso, however, those players joined Chelsea directly.

Signed from Paraguayan side Libertad in 2022, Enciso made 57 senior appearances for Brighton. He struggled for game time last season under new manager Fabian Hürzeler and was loaned to Ipswich Town in January. Despite Ipswich’s eventual relegation, he impressed with two goals and three assists in 13 games.

On the international stage, Enciso has been capped 27 times by Paraguay, scoring four goals since making his debut as a 17-year-old in 2021.

While fans will be eager to see him in action, Enciso’s debut for Strasbourg will have to wait until he completes his recovery from injury.
