Following Davido’s recent milestone of achieving the highest single-day Spotify streams for an African artist, Wizkid appeared to throw some shade in a recent tweet.

While Davido’s accomplishment was celebrated widely, including by many fans and colleagues in the industry, Wizkid’s response caught attention for its cryptic tone.

In a tweet, Wizkid used the phrase, “😂 pus.syboys Dey create their own happiness 😂 chance Dey for everybody 🩶🦅,” seemingly addressing the excitement around Davido’s latest feat and hinting that there’s space for everyone to succeed.

Fans quickly picked up on the possible shade, interpreting it as a reaction to the intense rivalry between the two artists’ fanbases.

Despite the tension, both artists continue to make waves, setting records and expanding Afrobeats’ influence globally.

In an interview with Kiss Fresh UK, Davido reflected on his European tour, noting a major shift in musical preferences. “People love Afrobeats. Even American artists are opting for Afrobeats over their own styles,” he pointed out.

Davido credited Afrobeat’s appeal to its distinctive sound, which has captured a global fanbase. This influence, he added, extends beyond music, reshaping the way Africa and its culture are viewed worldwide.

“The narrative about Africans has changed. There’s respect now, not just in music but also in fashion and food,” Davido said, highlighting the continent’s expanding cultural impact.
