Carlo Ancelotti picks triumph over Liverpool among two favourite Real Madrid trophy wins after becoming Los Blancos’ most decorated manager with Intercontinental Cup success
Carlo Ancelotti made history as Real Madrid triumphed in the inaugural Intercontinental Cup in Doha, defeating Mexican side Pachuca 3-0 in the final.
This victory saw Ancelotti become the most successful manager in Real Madrid’s history, securing his 15th title and surpassing the record previously held by club legend Miguel Munoz. Goals from Kylian Mbappe, Rodrygo, and Vinicius Jr. sealed the win for the Spanish giants.
The Intercontinental Cup marked Real Madrid’s fifth trophy of 2024, and Ancelotti was visibly elated following the triumph.
When asked about the most memorable titles of his career at Santiago Bernabeu, the 65-year-old singled out *La Decima* from his first stint with the club and the 2022 Champions League victory over Liverpool.
Speaking at his post-match press conference, Ancelotti said, “It’s difficult to say, but *La Decima* was special for me and for Madrid. Also, the Champions League win in Paris. If I had to choose, it was these two.”
Real Madrid will play their final match of 2024 on Sunday against Sevilla before La Liga breaks for the winter.
