Carlo Ancelotti scoops The Best FIFA Men’s Coach award for 2024
Carlo Ancelotti has been named The Best FIFA Men’s Coach for 2024, recognizing his exceptional achievements with Real Madrid over the past year.
This marks the first time Ancelotti has won the prestigious award since its inception in 2016, with his previous best finish being second place in 2022. He also becomes the second Italian to win the prize, following Claudio Ranieri’s inaugural victory in 2016 for his fairytale run with Leicester City.
Ancelotti’s 2024 was a year of dominance, guiding Real Madrid to a remarkable Champions League and La Liga double.
In addition, he secured the Supercopa de España earlier in the year, and Los Blancos remain contenders for the FIFA Intercontinental Cup later this week.
Ancelotti’s Key Achievements in 2023/24:
– La Liga Triumph: Real Madrid claimed the league title emphatically, finishing 10 points ahead of rivals Barcelona while losing just once in 38 matches.
– Champions League Glory: Los Blancos won a record-extending 15th European title by defeating Borussia Dortmund 2-0 in the final at Wembley Stadium.
This marked Ancelotti’s fifth Champions League title as a coach—two with AC Milan and three with Real Madrid.
Ancelotti’s success in 2024 further solidifies his reputation as one of football’s greatest-ever managers. Earlier in the year, he also won the Johan Cruyff award at the Ballon d’Or ceremony in October, further cementing his status as the standout manager of the year.
Other Nominees:
Ancelotti beat strong competition for the award, with the final shortlist including:
– Lionel Scaloni: Guided Argentina to victory in the 2024 Copa America.
– Luis de la Fuente: Led Spain to their Euro 2024 triumph.
– Pep Guardiola: Continued Manchester City’s domestic dominance, despite a dip in form late in the year.
– Xabi Alonso: Achieved an impressive German domestic double with Bayer Leverkusen, marking a standout season.
With this latest accolade, Carlo Ancelotti continues to make history, showcasing his unmatched ability to deliver success at the highest level of club football.
