Why I Didn’t Want Manchester City To Win Champions League Final – Burna Boy Reveals.
Grammy-winning Afrobeats artist, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu MFR, known professionally as Burna Boy, revealed that he never wanted Manchester City to defeat Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League final.
Manchester City defeated Inter Milan on Saturday night to claim its first-ever Champions League title. City won the trophy with a 1-0 victory over Inter.
Burna Boy became the first African musician to perform at the UEFA Champions League Final when he did so at Istanbul’s Atatürk Olympic Stadium before the game.
The singer stormed the more than 75,000-capacity Ataturk Olympic Stadium, 10th June to perform and entertain fans ahead of the final kick-off between Manchester City and Inter Milan for the battle of the crown.
He kicked off his performance with his electrifying Last Last, then transitioned to another banger track, It’s Plenty – a bumpy groove off his Love Damini studio album.
Burna Boy admitted that he didn’t want Manchester City to win since he supports Manchester United, which is regarded as City’s main rival, in an interview with Paramount+ shortly after the game.
He said: ‘This was most amazing thing, even though I honestly didn’t want City to win for sentimental reasons, it’s okay, It is amazing performing at the UCL final.”
