Burna Boy, born Damini Ogulu, has taken to video to publicly apologize to fans, following widespread criticism and reports of slumping ticket sales tied to a recent concert controversy.

The incident that sparked the uproar occurred during his Denver, Colorado show, when the singer paused mid-performance after spotting a woman sleeping in the front row.
He requested that she be escorted out, warning her boyfriend that failure to comply could force him to halt the entire show.
The backlash grew louder when an old clip resurfaced, in which Burna Boy stated he prefers “wealthy supporters” and doesn’t rely on anyone for help. Social media erupted with disappointment, with some fans even calling for a boycott of his concerts.
Amid the growing criticism, several stops on his No Sign of Weakness U.S. tour were abruptly cancelled. Ticketmaster confirmed that his November 28, 2025, show at The Armory in Minneapolis was called off just a day before the performance, and his December 1 Chicago date was also scrapped.
Now, a new video from his recent Texas performance shows Burna Boy confronting the controversy head-on. Mid-song, he paused to apologise directly to the audience, acknowledging that his earlier remarks were a mistake and assuring fans that he had no intention of offending anyone.
This marks Burna Boy’s first public attempt at mending fences since the criticism began, though questions remain about how the remainder of his U.S. tour will proceed.
“I know my ticket sales are suffering since that incident. Even the coffee I introduced no one is buying. So please I am sorry to everyone and everything I said. It was a slip of tongue.”
